15 Foreign Nationals Apprehended in Enforcement Operations

The Department continues its efforts to ensure compliance with immigration laws, following a series of successful enforcement operations carried out across New Providence, and the Family Islands. Some immigration-related offences to include Knowingly Attempting to Mislead an Immigration Officer, Uttering a Fraudulent or Forged Document and Overstaying.

On Friday, January 24, four (4) Ecuadorian nationals were detained at South Bimini Airport. On the same day, a Venezuelan national was apprehended at Governor’s Harbour International Airport in Eleuthera. All individuals were transported to New Providence for further processing.

Additionally, on Friday, January 24, several groups of foreign nationals were apprehended across New Providence and were subsequently transported to the Carmichael Road Detention Centre for further processing. Among those apprehended were, one American national and two (2) Haitian nationals apprehended near Fort Charlotte, Nassau.

On Sunday, January 26, a Haitian national was apprehended by the Royal Bahamas Police Force on Baillou Hill Road and handed over to immigration officials for processing. Additionally, six (6) Haitian nationals were apprehended during a routine status check in the southern district of New Providence, specifically in the areas of Kennedy Subdivision and Millar’s Heights.

These enforcement operations demonstrate the Department of Immigration's commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and ensuring full compliance with the Statute Laws of The Bahamas. The Department continues to encourage the public to report any immigration violations or suspicious activities.
