ATLANTIS, Paradise Island, The Bahamas -- Deputy Director-General of Tourism and Director of Aviation Dr. Kenneth Romer participated in a panel discussion on “Aviation Competitiveness in the Caribbean” during the Routes Americas 2025 conference.   Other panelists included Trevor Sadler, Chief Executive Officer, InterCaribbean Airways; and Hans van de Velde, CEO, Windward Islands Airways International (Winair).  The moderator was Aaron Karp, Contributing Editor, Aviation Week Network.

During this discussion, the aviation leaders provided insights into the competitive landscape for airlines and airports in the Caribbean. They also covered the region’s progress on traffic and financial recovery, and future development opportunities, offering a comprehensive overview of the current state and future potential of aviation in the region.

Routes Americas 2025 brought together more than 1,023 attendees from 63 countries in a decision-making fashion, to define the region’s air service networks. The event was hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, and Nassau Airport Development Company.
