Minister Miller attends Escazu Agreement environment protections meetings

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Honourable Minister of the Environment and Natural Resources led a delegation to a Seminar for Public Officials from the CARICOM region on the Escazú Agreement.

Under the theme, "Moving Towards A More Resilient and Sustainable Future In The Caribbean", the Escazu Agreement is the first regional treaty on environmental matters in Latin America and the Caribbean -- adopted under the auspices of UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) as Secretariat on 4 March 2018, in Escazú, Costa Rica.

The Escazú Agreement aims to guarantee the rights of access to environmental information, public participation in the environmental decision-making process and access to justice in environmental matters.

The recent meeting on the pact was held  at the Marriott Dadeland Hotel, Miami, on 16 September, 2024.
