BAHFSA Services (Phyto-sanitary Certificate for Export & Re-export, Movement Certificate)

Phyto-sanitary certificate for export or re-export is required by an importing country or subsequently exported to a third country.

Movement certificate required for the movement of plants, plant products or other regulated articles from the Port of Nassau or Grand Bahama to another designated port of entry within the country.

Eligibility

All persons wishing to export plants, plant products or other regulated articles to another country. 
All persons wishing to move/transport plants, plant products or other regulated articles within the country.

Process

  1. Make an application in person to BAHFSA’s office or electronically.
  2. Provide relevant documents
  3. Pay the prescribed fee.
  4. Make the consignments available for inspection.
  5. Inspector applies phyto-sanitary measures of importing country.
  6. Phyto-sanitary certificate is issued/sent to the NPPO of the importing country.

Turn-around time

Provided all required supplementary documents are received, process is completed within 30 days.

Deadline

BAHFSA requests complete application form along with supporting documents within 15 days from initial consultation with client. Once application form with attendant relevant documents are received, process is completed within 30-45 days.

Complaints Process
  1. All complaints can be expressed on the customer service link on the bahfsa website or send an email detailing the complaint to bahfsa@bahamas.gov.bs;
  2. If a customer is not satisfied with the service or has a dispute, he/she may forward complaints to the attention of the Executive Director at bahfsa@bahamas.gov.bs.
