In The Bahamas, persons must first register with the Health Professions Council before they can work in the following fields:  

• Acupuncture Therapy.
• Audiology and Speech Language Pathology.
• Chiropody and Podiatry.
• Chiropractic.
• Clinical Psychology.
• Dietetics.
• Emergency Services Technology.
• Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Occupational Therapy.
• Optometry and Opticianary.
• Pharmacists and Pharmacy Testing.
• Physiotherapy and Respiratory Therapy.
• Radiography.

Please note that once registered, the licence should be displayed prominently in the professional’s place of business.

Anyone who is qualified as a health professional is eligible.

Process

1. Complete registration form.
2. Attach all of the supporting documents.  These must be originals or notarised copies.
3. Submit to the Health Professions Council.

• Birth certificate.
• Police certificate.
• Health certificate (completed by a physician).
• Recent passport-sized photograph.
• Completed Posts Held form.
• Completed Authorisation form (release of information).
• Academic certificates.
• Current Registration Certificate, where applicable (notarised copy).
• Employment Sponsorship letter (non-Bahamians only).
• Copy of current Work Permit or Permanent Resident Certificate (non-Bahamians only).
• Bahamian Passport (as proof of Bahamian citizenship).
• Three written references – two professional and one character.
