Inquiry Agent and/or a Security Guard Company, Renewal of Licence to Operate an

All licences granted to engage in the business of providing inquiry agents or security guards are valid for a period of one year. A temporary licence may be issued to a person for a period stated in the licence, but not more than three months, while awaiting the decision to grant the licence.

Eligibility

Applicant must:

  • Be a Bahamian citizen
  • Be licensed under the Inquiry Agents and Security Guards Act
  • Pay the required fee

Process

  1. Prior to the expiration date of the licence, the following must be submitted to the Ministry of National Security:  
    • Licence Book
    • Current Original Police Certificate
    • Fee for annual or temporary licence
  2. Applicant must receive a favourable vetting from the Police for a licence to be renewed.

Note:

Family Island Applicants can submit their applications through their Administrator’s Office or send via mail. They must ensure that all relevant documents and fees are enclosed.

Deadline

Application for renewal should be submitted prior to the expiration date of the licence.

Related Fee(s)

  1. Temporary Licence Fee - BS$125.00 (every three months)
  2. Annual Licence Fee - BS$500.00

Note:  

  • All payment by cheque must be certified and made payable to the Public Treasury or The Ministry of National Security.  
  • Other forms of acceptable payment are cash or money order.
  • Cash payment should be made to the Public Treasury, and receipt submitted to the Ministry of National Security.
  • Fees are to accompany application form with relevant documents.
