Port Identification Card

All persons who either work on the ports or have some reasonable beneficial interest for being on the port frequently must secure an identification card to access the port.

Eligibility

There are a specific set of people that are eligible to receive Port Identification Cards.

  • Port Employees
  • Environmental Health employees
  • Immigration employees
  • Road Traffic employees
  • Customs Employees
  • Tourism Employees
  • Ferryboat Operators and Ship Agents
  • Jet Ski Operators
  • Tour Guides
  • Taxi Drivers
  • Vendors and Musicians

Process

  1. All eligible persons who request an identification card must complete and submit an application form.
  2. The application fee is paid when the application is submitted.
  3. The applicant must also provide all necessary supporting documents.
  4. The application, along with all supporting documents, will be reviewed by the Port Department.
  5. Once approved, identification will be issued to the applicant.  
    Note:  All identification cards must be renewed annually.

Application for Port Security Access Identification Card form may be collected from any of the offices listed below.

Supporting Documents

  • A letter requesting permission to enter the port
  • Job reference letter
  • A valid passport (first three pages of passport)
  • National Insurance Number
  • Police Record (not less than three months old)

Ferryboat and Jet Ski operators must also provide:

  • Operators Licence
  • Master’s Licence and/or STCW Certification  

Turn-around time

Baring any outstanding issue with the applicant’s documentation, the identification card is usually processed in one day.

There is no deadline associated with this service.
