Public Service Driver’s Licence

Any citizen who has completed the BahamaHost programme and is interested in becoming an ambassador for The Bahamas, can apply for a public service driver’s licence. The licence is granted after successful completion of an interview and practical driving test. You may apply online using the go to service button.

Eligibility

  1. Possess a Drivers Licence for more than 3 years
  2. Bahamian Citizen
  3. BahamaHost Certified
  4. Must be 21 years or older

Process

  1. Complete application form.
  2. Submit the completed form along with the relevant supporting documents to the Public Service Licencing Unit of the Road Traffic Department.
  3. Upon review and approval of the application and supporting documents, an interview appointment would be set by the Clerk and the applicant would be contacted with the appointment time and date.
  4. Upon successful completion of the interview and practical test, the applicant must present the supporting documents  to the Road Traffic Department Drivers Licence Unit.
  5. After verification by the Clerk,  the Photo Clerk will take the photograph and signature of the applicant.
  6. The Photo Clerk will then issue a receipt to the applicant for payment.
  7. Upon payment to the Cashier, the Drivers License Clerk will issue the Public Service Drivers Licence.

Supporting Documents

  • A valid Driver’s License
  • Two Character References
  • Three passport size photos (Men must be wearing a necktie)
  • National Insurance Card
  • Police Traffic Character Reference
  • Police Criminal Character Reference
  • Eye examination certificate

Turn-around time 

This varies based on the date set for interview and practical test. Once you have successfully completed the interview and practical driving test, the Licence can be issued on the same day that you visit the Road Traffic Department.
