Biography
The Hon. Dr. Michael Ronald Darville, the first Minister for Grand Bahama, is a businessman medical doctor and an engineer.
The Hon. Dr. Darville was born on July 11, 1960 in New Providence. He received his early and secondary education at Queen’s College in Nassau, Bahamas. He began his tertiary education at The College of the Bahamas where he received an Associate’s Degree in Engineering. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering at the University of Windsor in Canada, and University of London College. He later went on to study Medicine at the University of the West Indies.
The Hon. Dr. Darville is a well-established businessman who is the partner, president and owner of a number of businesses, including The Grand Bahama Family Medical Center. Prior to this, he served as a medical doctor for the Bahamas Government in the Ministry of Health. He was also self-employed as an Engineer. Dr. Darville is also a member of the Bahamas Medical Council.
He was first appointed as a Senator in 2009 and again in 2017. During this time, he fought tirelessly to agitate on behalf of and bring forward the concerns of the residents of Grand Bahama.
In June 2010, the Hon. Dr. Darville was nominated as the Progressive Liberal Party's candidate for the Pineridge constituency and on May 7, 2012, he was elected the Member of Parliament for Pineridge. On Friday, May 11th, 2012 the Hon. Dr. Michael Darville was sworn in as the first Minister for Grand Bahama.
On May 23, 2017, he was reappointed to the Senate by The Hon. Philip “Brave” Davis,
(Leader of the Progressive Liberal Party) during that time.
On September 16., 2021, Dr. Darville was elected to the House of Assembly as member of parliament for the Tall Pines Constituency and sworn in on October 6th, 2021.
He was also appointed to the post of Minister of Health and Wellness.

Dr. Michael Darville is married to Susie and they are the parents of two sons. The couple also has one granddaughter.
