Biography

Four years after graduating with a degree in Marketing and Economics, the Hon. Jomo Campbell changed course and decided to study law. He later graduated with an LLM (Master of Laws) with distinction.

Mr. Campbell practiced with a leading group of Bahamian attorneys and is recognized as a World Trade specialist. He is an experienced attorney who specialized in criminal litigation.  His focus areas included administrative and constitutional matters, civil litigation, personal injury, family law, real property transactions and intellectual property.

He was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales as a member of the Honorable Society of Middle Temple Inn in 2005.

Engaged in a number of community activities he is a member of Toastmasters International, Club 1600 and serves in the ministry at Grants Town Methodist Church.

Junkanoo is one of Mr. Campbell’s passions and he uses his talents not only to make some of the great masterpieces seen on Bay Street, but also as a vehicle to mentor young men who reside in Centreville. A product of the neighborhood, he embraces a sense of duty to uplift others.

He enjoys reading, listening to music, writing short stories, lyrics and poetry.

Mr. Campbell was elected the Member of Parliament for Centreville on September 16, 2021, and sworn in as the Minister of State for Legal Affairs on September 20, 2021.

As Minister of State his previous portfolio included: criminal prosecution and international legal cooperation.

On the 11th of September 2023, Mr. Campbell was named Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources after a cabinet reshuffle done by The Prime Minister of The Commonwealth of the Bahamas, The Hon. Philip Davis K.C, MP.
