Biography

For 25 years the Hon. Mario Bowleg has enjoyed a career in banking. Starting as the security/door man, he rose through the ranks and served as an Assistant Branch Manager at Commonwealth Bank.

Mr. Bowleg is perhaps even better known for his achievements in coaching, mentoring and sports leadership.

His name is synonymous with basketball in The Bahamas. For four non-consecutive years he was acclaimed as ‘National Champion’ and ‘Coach of the Year'.

Prior to his election as president of the Bahamas Basketball Federation (BBF) he touched the lives of many particularly helping the disenfranchised to seek education and careers.

Mr. Bowleg is a drummer and a trumpet player with the Music Makers Junkanoo group.

He was elected Member of Parliament for Garden Hills on September 16, 2021 and appointed Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture on September 22, 2021.
