The Hon. Myles LaRoda
Minister Of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting
Born to the union of essential medical professionals, the Hon. Myles LaRoda grew up and spent the majority of his early childhood in Crooked Island with his paternal grandparents.
Raised in humble beginnings, he was surrounded by parents and grandparents who were all dedicated public servants. This modest upbringing assisted in moulding Minister LaRoda into the dedicated and compassionate character that he is today.
In 2015 he was appointed chairman of the Public Disclosure Commission, and held the position until 2021.
He began his professional career in the tourism industry as a cook and was eventually transferred to Atlantis Casino where he became a supervisor. Decades in the tourism industry guided his underlying passion to become an attorney-at-law. He achieved his goal; and prior to the General Election of 2021, he served as the senior partner at LaRoda, Francis & Co.
He was elected Member of Parliament for the Pinewood constituency on September 16th, 2021 and sworn in as Minister of State in the Office of the Prime Minister on September 22nd, 2021.
As Minister of State his portfolio included: disaster preparedness and emergency management; relations with the Disaster Reconstruction Authority; the National Insurance Board; Bahamas Information Services; and the Broadcasting Corporation of The Bahamas.
After serving as Acting Minister for Social Services for six weeks, Minister Laroda was appointed Minister of Social Services, Information and Broadcasting on the 2nd January, 2024 by the Prime Minister of The Commonwealth Of The Bahamas, The Hon. Philip Davis, KC.

Mr. LaRoda and his wife, Deidre, are the parents of five children. They also have one grandchild.
