The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Northern Command held its inaugural Church Service on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
GRAND BAHAMA, The Bahamas -- The Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Northern Command held its inaugural Church Service on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at New Life Worship Center to commemorate 45 years of unwavering commitment and dedicated service to the nation.
The service was held under the themes, “A People’s Force Guarding Our Heritage Through Godly Excellence” and “A God-Led People’s Force.”
In attendance at the service were Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry for Grand Bahama Kingsley Smith; Commander of the RBDF Commodore Raymond King; Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Charlton Smith; Assistant Commissioner of Police/Northern Region Advardo Dames; Assistant Director of Immigration/Northern Region Greta Knowles; Deputy Comptroller of Customs Whitney Kenny; along with members of their respective departments; RBDF Chaplain Chief Apostle Dr. Raymond Wells and other senior government officials and heads of departments.
Mr. Smith brought brief remarks and commended the RBDF for its growing presence in the northern region and its continued commitment to service.
“Today we mark 45 years since this esteemed institution was entrusted with the mandate to guard our heritage," he said.
“I extend heartfelt congratulations to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force on four and a half decades of steadfast growth and development.”
Chaplain Wells delivered an uplifting sermon on “I’m Going To The Other Side”, encouraging officers to see every obstacle they face as preparation for a greater season ahead. He reminded them that no storm lasts forever, and with faith, vision, and purpose, they are equipped to overcome and move forward into what lies ahead.
The service concluded with a solemn sunset ceremony, honoring the memory of dedicated RBDF officers who faithfully served and have since passed on.
