NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Bahamas joined over 250 countries worldwide in celebrating World Consumer Rights Day. A ceremony marking the event was held under the theme, 'A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles,' during an Exhibition/Fair at the Consumer Affairs Unit, Tonique Williams-Darling Highway, on Friday.
In attendance were Minister of State for Environment & Natural Resources, the Hon. Zane Lightbourne, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Commission Senator the Hon. Randy Rolle, and other senior government officials.

Mr. Lightbourne commended the Consumer Affairs staff for their hard work and dedication, and thanked them for successfully executing the exhibition/fair event. He also discussed some of the initiatives that the government will be undertaking to support sustainability in the country including the installation of power grids and other environmental infrastructure. And he urged all Bahamians to adopt green, sustainable practices on a daily basis to reduce their carbon footprint.
The Exhibition/Fair featured stalls from various agencies including Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC), the Bahamas Agricultural Health and Food Safety Authority (BAHFSA), the Bahamas Agriculture & Marine Science Institute (BAMSI), Bahamas Power & Light, Department of Agriculture, Department of Marine Resources, EV Motors, Program SURE, Sustainable Development Goals Unit, Tourism Development Corporation of The Bahamas; and from Chief Dwayne Sinclair and other vendors who produce eggs, solar energy, honey, compost, jams, juices, solar energy and businesses offering services such as massages and facials.
